'Sasirekha Parinayam' Review: Well-Knit But Lengthy

Film: Sasirekha Parinayam Rating: 2.75/5 Banner: Karthikeya Creations Cast: Tarun, Genelia, Ahuti Prasad, Subbaraju, Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, M S, Tulasi, Raghu Babu and others Music : Mani Sharma Camera:  Bhaskar Director: Krishna Vamsi Producer: Sunkara Madhu Murali Release date: 02/01/2009 It is often an exciting tale to see a girl meets boy and they get along into a journey with twists and turns only for love to bloom. Something like that happens in this film. Let us see how this goes. Story Sasirekha (Genelia) is a stubborn and short tempered girl but very innocent and kind hearted. She is brought to Amalapuram for her own marriage even she is not aware of and she decides to escape since she cannot say no to her aggressive father Babu Rao (Ahuti Prasad). In her escape, she comes across Anand (Tarun) and soon both of them embark on a journey from Rajahmundry to Vijayawada trying to escape from the eyes of Babu Rao's men and also various other elements. In this process, Anand keeps helping Sasi at every nook and corner and they have their own share of fights and laughter. Soon the attachment grows and the fondness also increases between them. However, there is one thing that Anand does not tell Sasi throughout their journey since he is scared of the outcome. What is the truth? Does Sasirekha get married finally? All this forms the rest of the story. Performance Tarun looked a bit tired and he should have worked more on his usual smart techniques and energy, the fresh look in him was missing. Genelia was the life and soul of the film and she came in with a superb performance. Ahuti Prasad is the best bet for the coastal roles, Paruchuri showed his strength and mettle this time. Subbaraju was good, Raghu Babu was hilarious and M S as usual did his bit to generate laughs. The director has come out with a regular romantic tale but then it was necessary to see that the script was held tightly and the screenplay was executed with full depth. The story got a bit lengthy and the music was just about okay with two songs to really cheer about. Camera could have been better given the picturesque locations and editing was required very much at many points since they kind of hampered the momentum of the story. Analysis The title of the film was appealing and this will surely catch the family audience in a big way. The talk that this is a remake of 'Jab We Met' can be dropped since there is no resemblance to the storyline except the journey part. There were few places where the dialogues got a bit too lengthy and that caused impatience to the audience. Tarun's words on the essence of the literary greats of Vijayawada had lot of knowledge but lacked the punch to create impact. This will turn out to be a good gainer if the word of mouth goes well and given the fact that there are about ten days for the Sankranti biggies to arrive, the chances are high that this will be a successful venture. But still, the content part with lengthy narration may bring a drop for those expectations as well.

'Mental Krishna' Review: It's Horrible Torture

Film: Mental Krishna Rating: 0/5 Banner: Mohan Media Creations Cast: Posani Krishna Murali, Satya Krishna, Brahmanandam, M S, Giri Babu, Ranganath, Naga Babu, Raghu Babu, Brahmaji and others Camera: G Sridhar Director: Posani Krishna Murali Producer: Mohan Vadlapatla Release Date: 01/01/2009   Has it been a long time that you have seen a sleazy, sick and perverted kind of movie? Then perhaps 'Mental Krishna' will show you how to go insane without the slightest of inhibitions. Let us show how torturous the film is.   Story Satya (Satya) is a beautiful daughter of a rich businessman (Giribabu) and her dream to make it to Indian School of Business is shattered when she fails to clear the test. However, she notices that the milkman who supplies milk to her gets an admission. Soon, she falls in love with him (wonder how TOEFL score can be a reason to fall in love) and decides upon marriage.   On the day of the wedding however, the milkman fails to turn up since he gets a personal obligation and decides against the marriage. Meanwhile, Muddu Krishna (Posani) who has an eye for Satya since a while enters the scene as his parents are good friends of Satya's parents and the elders decide to get both of them married.   Satya expects Krishna to be a nice man and compromises with her life. Soon she realizes Krishna is impotent, sadistic and he also has a gay lover bobby (Raghu Babu). Given his sadistic nature, he begins to suspect everything about Satya and embarrasses her in front of everyone. He tortures her to the maximum and then there is a final showdown.   Performance Posani is the perfect fit for a sadist role and his looks and body language are most suited for this. But the way he appeared in night gowns is nasty and hard to accept.   Satya has shown the oomph in her without any qualms and did not hesitate to do some needless skin show for the role she has been offered. Her image has ruptured completely with this role.   Brahmanandam tried to evoke laughter but it was basically annoying, MS is a natural comedian so that suited him. Giri Babu, Ranganath, Delhi Rajeswari and other senior cast carried out their role mechanically. Naga Babu was usual, Brahmaji was boring. The others did not have much say.   The director has come out with a rather disgusting tale of suspicion woven with a sleazy presentation. The narrative was perverted and the dialogues were utterly disgusting, script was written with an ugly motive and the screenplay was poor. Music was just apt for the situation and the songs are annoying. Editing was numb and other departments need no mention here.

'King' Review: Wholesome Entertainer

Film: King Rating: 3.25/5 Banner: Kamakshi Kala Movies Cast: Nagarjuna, Trisha, Mamta Mohandas, Srihari, Brahmanandam, Jayaprakash Reddy, Arjan Bajwa, Sayaji Shinde, Krishna Bhagawan, Geetha, Dharmavarapu, Chandramohan etc Music: Devisri Prasad Story: Kona Venkat, Gopi Mohan Art: AS Prakash Editing: MR Varma Cinematography: Prasad Moorella Screenplay,Direction: Srinu Vaitla Producer: Sivaprasad Reddy Release date: 25th Dec 2008   The last big movie of the year 2008 arrived today. The expectations have been big on this film for several reasons. The most vital factor that boosted up expectations is the direction by Srinu Vaitla who made big hit 'Ready' this year. Let us see how far the film reached expectations.   Story: King alias Chandra Pratap Varma (Nag) is the son of Raja Varma (Sobhan Babu). He becomes the heir of a large estate fatre the death of his father, where his uncles and aunts also live with him along with mother (Geeta). King faces a peril in the form of Swapna (Mamata Mohandas). That stands up to be a suspense element in the narration. Who is Swapna and why she becomes a danger point for King? What happens to King?   On the other hand Sravani (Trisha), an aspiring singer catches the eye of a guy whose name is Bottu Seenu (Nag), a goonda. What's the link between Bottu Seenu and King? That forms another layer in the film.   And last but not least, Sravani falls in love with a software engineer Sridhar (Nagarjuna). Is there any link between Sridhar, Bottu Seenu and King other than the similarities in looks? That's another layer all together.   'Gnan anna' aka Gnaneshwar (Srihari) portrayed the role of Sravani's brother.   Rest to be watched on screen to unleash this knot.   Performances: Nagarjuna's magnitude is seen fully on silver screen. His grace pulled the attention of entire audiences. It sounds a wonder to know he is 50 now. There are no signs of that age on his face or body and he is looking 20 years younger to what actually the time claims. His performance in three different shades is hilarious and entertaining. He left his starry airs aside and performed up to the role as demanded (like getting bruises from Brahmanandam). That should inspire many younger heroes as well. And coming to dances, he has performed in his trade mark style.   Trisha is with full of elegance and the credit should be given to costume designer and cinematographer. She hasn't exposed anything big but touched the senses of audiences.   Mamata Mohandas looked voluptuous and witch-like as per the demand of the role. She once again proved her mettle as complete artiste with own voice for dubbing. And coming to the most publicized eight-heroine song, except Genelia everybody looked hot (Anushka), romantic (Trisha), lovely (Priyamani), refined (Kamna), sexy (Mamata Mohandas), spicy (Sneha Ullal) and chubby (Charmy). The costumes used for Genelia are inferior when compared to others in that song. That made the difference.   Brahmanandam once again tickled the audiences with his role as music director Jaya Surya. He has been the vital factor in Srinu Vaitla's films since 'Dhee'.   Master Bharat also brought laughs with his role but that is not in the length of his role in 'Ready'. He justified in a small role in this film.   Jayaprakash Reddy also made his presence well with his Rayalseema style of dialogues. Sayaji Shinde and Krishna Bhagawan also portrayed in their trade mark style on negative side.   Sri Hari deserves very good mention in this flick. He worked really well as supporting artiste. He portrayed action and comedy in right doses. His hilarious role will be remembered as Painter Gnaneshwar for sure.   Coming to technical aspects, cinematography by Moorella Prasad is fantastic. The costume designer also deserves great mention. And the story writers Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan once again grooved in their names for the characters of Sayaji Shinde and Krishna Bhagawan, like they did with their earlier films.   All in all, this Srinu Vaitla's show although inspired from different films (Chandramukhi, Chandralekha, Shankaradada Zindabad etc….), stands to be unique and a wholesome family entertainer.
